Dr. Tom Horton was a fictional character on NBC's soap opera Days of our Lives. He was played by Macdonald Carey from 1965 until his death in 1994.
Tom was born in the blue-collar family of Horton's in 1910, in Salem. During his high school and college, he was a star at the baseball team. There he met his sweetheart Alice Grayson They married on March 7, 1930 in a small church in Salem. They had five children: Tommy, Addie (deceased), Mickey, Bill and Marie. They also raised their grandchildren, Jennifer after her mother was institutionalized. Tom served in World War II, and retired shortly after. He then became a doctor. He built University Hospital Trauma Center, where he became chief of staff. He died in 1994, after spending more than 60 years with Alice.
