Demography of England
This article discusses the demography of England. Due to the lack of authoritative contemporary sources, estimates of the population of England for dates prior to the first census in 1801 vary considerably. It has been suggested that even the 1801 census may have left up to 250,000 people uncounted.

The population at the time of the 2001 census was 49,138,831
